This novel was a truly Christian book and had a ton of great themes: God’s sovereignty, the fact that God’s plan is always good, trusting God, salvation, faith, and overcoming doubts."

About the book

In the land of Sedarkia, the heart of the Chief - Zander Hvalman - has frozen long ago. When his only son, Owain, converts to Christianity, Zander believes he has no other choice than to disinherit him. Owain flees, leaving Sedarkia with no successor…

Torryn Velgard - a reckless sailor-turned-smuggler - is determined to make his mark by becoming Sedarkia’s next ruler. The only obstacle is Owain - no one knows where he fled or if he is planning to return with an army at his back. Torryn decides the only reasonable course of action is to track down Owain and make sure he will never come back to Sedarkian shores. Along the way, Torryn also drags his unwilling older brother, Ivor, along with him.

Owain, Torryn, Ivor, and Zander must all sooner or later come face to face with a new power that is sweeping the land like a wildfire - Christianity. They must make a choice to accept it and the persecution that comes with it or reject it to climb the ladder of their own personal ambition.

Why I write...

Over the years, as I worked alongside my parents in out homeschool bookstore, Learning Cycle, I began to notice that many parents were struggling to find literature they could trust to place in their children’s hands. Many of these moms wanted novels for their young girls that were both clean and faith-building. Even in my own experience, I had read books that claimed to be Christian, but found myself disappointed as either God was only mentioned a few times or there were issues such as romance or unaddressed sin. This is what really made me decide to move forward in writing my book and get it published! God has truly blessed me in this writing journey, and I look forward to seeing how He will use it in the future!

“He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings, you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.”
- Psalm 91:4
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Yet the faith of those who refused to let the circumstances dictate their response to a loving God held firm. Bruised, yes. Hard-pressed and crushed at times? Almost certainly. But gone? Never. Not in this life or the next. A faith which the King of all things daily upholds cannot be drowned out by the chaos and the storm."

Her words trembled; she fought to keep herself under control as she gulped down a sob, “You have a chance to stop this. Tell the king what you’ve told me. It’s not too late; ask God to forgive you. I can do no less. ‘Forgive one another as God in Christ forgave you.’"
